Sullishak

A family beach cabin at Lincoln Beach, Oregon, since 1947.

Welcome. Dave's parents, Wes and Elsie Sullivan, built Sullishak in 1947. Our family has been coming here for almost eighty years.

If you grew up coming here, you will recognize quite a few people in these pages. If you have never been, we'd like to show you the place.

Why we are letting go

We are getting older. We still love Sullishak, but we can no longer maintain so many things. We have done a fair amount of building and repairing over the years. These days, we'd like a shorter list.

It is time for the cabin to move to a newer generation.

We are sorry if that is hard news. Sullishak is part of a great many family memories, and we know that selling it changes things. We want to be honest about what we are ready to keep doing.

We are offering the cabin and the lot next door to the Sullivan and Diviney families first. It may stay in the family. It may go to someone new who likes its history, its character and its quiet comfort. We would be glad to find that person, too.

A look around

Sullishak is at 4040 Mina Avenue, a short walk from the beach. The cabin has changed quite a bit since Dave's parents built it. There is a remodeled kitchen, a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, and an upstairs balcony looking toward the ocean.

There are also steep stairs and the marks of a house that has been worked on by several generations. The project pages will show you how much work that involved.

The words carved around the front door say:

May cares be left without and caring brought within.

That is still a good reason to come down.
